Jane Sterling Silver

We use 925 sterling silver, an alloy made of 92.5% pure silver, with an additional coating or rhodium to eliminate tarnishing. Our lightweight, highly durable silver is ethically sourced and derived primarily from recycled sources.

Jane Gold Vermeil

Unlike traditional gold plating, Jane Gold Vermeil is a thick, long-lasting layer of durable 18k solid yellow gold on a high-quality base of decadent sterling silver (which is hypoallergenic). We use 18k yellow gold that is a minimum of 2.5 microns thick (or higher) as required by the Federal Trade Commission to classify vermeil. Our vermeil is 500% thicker than standard gold plating. We proudly avoid brass and use recycled and ethically sourced gold.

Water Durability

While our beloved Sterling Silver and Gold Vermeil are built to stand the test of time, it’s important to remember that those materials are naturally sensitive to exposure to certain environmental factors—such as water, sulfur or strong chemicals—and a patina can naturally develop over time. This is a normal characteristic of these materials and can be minimized with proper care by following our Care Guide and using the complimentary polishing cloth included with every purchase. This reaction is a universal property of these precious metals and is not specific to any particular maker or brand. We encourage mindful wear and care to preserve your Jane’s beauty. In terms of contact with water, our jewelry is thoughtfully crafted to handle the occasional splash, but for lasting beauty, we recommend keeping it away from water whenever possible.
